Camp Chief Hector Details
The trail starts off mellow, but gets steep and a bit loose in places. It's got quite a lot of variation on the way down, with weird corners, some rock, some roots, some small jumps and lots of off-camber sections. Once you finish the descent, turn right at the first junction and follow the horse trail [sometimes very rutted, sometimes smooth]. There are many junctions, generally choose the trail on the right/uphill. When you get to a washed out section that climbs to the right, go up that and continue up the gully and out onto the flat. Follow the trail more or less straight until it intersects with Stoney on the right.
The trail is named for the kid's summer camp at the bottom.
In the 90s, the trail was part of an XC race.
Climb up the Prairie View trail to the last switchback, head right into the trees.
