High alpine (hiking) trail descending from the Cape au Moine. This should be considered an epic adventure.... Epic adventure as in how much work it is to get to, how exposed it is in places (don't fall) and how amazing the views are. The actual bike riding is a bit hike-a-bike in spots, but worth it if you're out for an explore.

First 100 meters are quite steep & exposed (best walked - depending on your skill). After that the trail begins to mellow out a bit (it's a double black diamond rating... so it is still steep, don't be fooled) and switches back through the high alpine. The trail is loose & rocky in places, keep an eye out for baby heads while enjoying the views.

The steep eventually gives way into an alpine meadow, which then turns into a boulder field, which then turns into farmers fields (watch out for cow paddies), which then turns into brief tractor path, which turns into a slippery rocky forest, which then hits a road.

Route finding is tricky in place, bring a map & an offline version of Trailforks. Watch for the gates built into the farmers electric fences, they will be a good indication that you are at least on a trail.

Access Info

Use the Cape au Moine climb trail (on Trailforks). Begin descent on La Chia hiking trail. When you reach the signs at the boulder field turn right and head up over the ridge.

This will lead you into a farmers field, head towards the old barn but stay riders left of it and continue to traverse down to the next two farmers building way below. Turn right at the two buildings and follow the double track/tractor path until you reach an intersection with a yellow sign, go left. You will find a turn style gate through the electric fence, which leads to a barb wire gate in the next fence.

The way through the forest is pretty clear after that. You will eventually hit a gravel road, turn left & follow that until you hit pavement.
