This forest-enclosed hike or ride leads to a low Continental Divide pass northwest of Chinook Lake. It starts out on cross country ski trails (Otter and Gil's Gully on the maps at XC ski trail junctions), and follows a rough track up a creek valley to an OHV trail. This trail passes several streams and ponds before it reaches the Alberta-B.C. border at 7.5 km from Chinook Lake. The trail continues down into B.C. The left branch (GPS track) follows a creek to the Alexander Creek Forest Service Road, Follow the gravel road briefly before branching left on to an abandoned double-track that hugs the east side of the Alexander Creek valley down to Highway 3 at the weigh scale.

Access Info

Take Highway 3 to the Allison Creek Road, 5 km west of Coleman town centre. Turn north on the Allison Creek Road and proceed 2.7 km until you cross a cattle guard. Take the left fork immediately after the cattle guard and continue 1.3 km to the lower parking area, then follow signs to the campground, continue down a steep hill and park at Chinook Lake.
To set up a car shuttle to do the whole trail, leave a vehicle at the weigh scale on Highway 3, 3 km west of the Alberta-B.C. border.

This trail is Unsanctioned, Ride at your own Risk!
