Don't Fence Me In Details
The trail is a cross country singletrack that can be used to expand loop opportunities in the Gold Canyon trail system. The trail is best ridden from north to south due to its downhill nature in that direction. The north starting point is off the Lost Gold Mine trail.
One could ride up either Transition or the TD trail to the Lost Gold Mine Trail and ride east to get to the north end of Don't Fence Me In for a mostly downhill ride to the Outer Limits trail which can be ridden west to the TD trail. If you turn south (left) on TD you are on Lower TD which gets you to the Snowbird trail or the south end of Transition.
This trail could be ridden two days after a major rainy period.
The trail is best accessed from the East Gate Parking Lot off of the Peralta dirt road where a Jeep Road takes you to that parking spot. From the parking lot you would need to open the metal barbed wire gate and ride to the Outer Limits trail. Note that you will be parking on AZ State Trust Land and you need a State Trust Land Permit to park there. The permits are acquired online for $15 and take about one week to acquire.
You can also ride from the west end of the Gold Canyon trail system from either the Cloudview or Apache Land parking lots. Since you will be starting at the west end you can develop a multitude of different ride plans to get you to Don't Fence Me In. My preferred route from the west end would probably include 2GM, Gila Monster, Diamondback, Saguaro Squeeze, K Trail, Tech Loop, To Secret, Secret, Kiki, Horse Trail, Snowbird (first part), TD or Transition, Lost Gold Mine to Don't Fence Me In to Outer Limits. From there I would probably take TD to Snowbird to Kiki to To K to K to the Old Horse trail to your car via Gold Canyon trail if you are parked at the Cloudview Parking Lot.
