Classic Rockies ride. This is one of three routes up to the Jumping Pound Summit Trail, and probably the best one if you're doing the loop over to Cox. The road is set to open May 15, 2015. Assume there will be snow at the top until at least June. Lots of hikers use this trail [especially the Cox descent to Dawson], and you will see horses as well.
Most people take Hwy 1 to Hwy 68 southbound, then make the turn onto Powderface Rd and head to Dawson trailhead.
