The track is aligned to the Golden Pipeline Drive Trail, following part of CY O’Connor’s pipeline which continues from Mundaring Weir to Kalgoorlie. There are trail heads at Mundaring Weir and Northam, and multiple access points which means walkers from any level (from strollers to end-to-enders) are catered for. Riders can park and ride from pretty much any town along the way.

The Track passes through the communities of Mundaring, Sawyers Valley, Mount Helena, Wundowie, Bakers Hill, and Clackline. Those who want to go end-to-end can source suitable accommodation through the visitor centres.

Be prepared (see Trail Tips), leave your itinerary including an estimated return time with friends/family and firm up pick-up arrangements beforehand.

For horses it is recommended to carry a canvas bucket and have the horse shod or wear boots if going a considerable distance. At the right time of year, there is green pick on the way but if riding a full day, carry a nosebag. Horses need a level of fitness appropriate to distance and speed travelled.

Contact Transwa on 1300 66 22 05 to make a booking on the AvonLink or the Prospector for you and /or your bicycle. The AvonLink commuter train travels to Perth every morning from Northam and back in the evening, Monday to Friday. Transwa operates coach services between Northam and Perth every day of the week. Bicycles are allowed but with a limit of two per coach make sure you book well in advance.

Contact Transperth on 13 62 13 for information about getting to some of the settlements on the Kep Track by bus. From Midland train station you can travel as far east as Wundowie with stops in Mundaring, Sawyers Valley, Mt Helena, Chidlow and Wooroloo. Bicycles are not allowed on metropolitan busses.

NOTE: There is no public transport system between Mundaring Weir and the town of Mundaring.
