The Knot was added to the park in 2013 by Midlands SORBA and members of the Sumter ChainGang. The second trail added since Poinsett was opened to cyclists, more trails are in the works over the next few years. (The first trail was the 1 mile Splice trail). The Knot is part of the Southern Classic Series mountain bike racecourse in 2013-2016.
The Knot is marked with round, aluminum tags with a black background.
To get to the Knot, cross the dam. On the other end of the dam is the wide spillway and a concrete bridge. This is the Coquina Trail. Climb up to the Coquina shelter. Continue until you reach the exclusion fence across the trail. Take the Knot to the right onto the park boundary. This is the Poinsett Park boundary with Manchester State Forest and the western end of the Knot.
