It takes some serious effort to get to the Kuaokala Ridge Trail but it's absolutely worth it. The trail is technical, full of amazing scenery and just downright fun. To get to the ridge you'll need to put on some miles and get your climb on!

Very overgrown. At points it was almost impossible to tell where the trail was so we treked ahead to check before continuing on bike.

Overall great conditions, wet in a few areas but nothing to stop you from having a good time.

Trail was in awesome condition. No branches or trees in the way. I was able to ride pretty much everything. A must in Hawaii!

I went up the wrong way so I had to climb lots steeper sections with my bike on the side. I decided to continue climbing up until the beginning of the loop (end of the jeep road). I don't think I missed much by not climbing by the jeep road. There's a way to cut to the beginning of the ridge loop if you're coming the wrong way. Total distance that way was about 14 miles (23.3 km) and 3600 ft. (1100m) ups and down (from Strava stats).

The loop section on the ridge of the mountain was simply mind blowing. It's really world-class mountain biking. I took me about 4.5 hours but I stopped lots of times to take some pictures and videos. Make sure your brake pads are fine for this, because I completely destroyed mine during trail. Bring lots of water and some food if you can. Also, make sure to bring your phone with Trailforks installed. I looked at the trails about 50 times to make sure I didn't get lost (first time doing it and I was alone).

The combination of DH/AM/XC was perfect. Every single pedal stroke was worth it.

Haha stoked you liked it. Also, you didn't miss anything not climbing up the fireroad on the other side, it can be miserable...
