This access road is the start of the locally known Peacock Kealia Loop. It's a long (4 miles), steep, paved road climb to the top of the ridge. It's exposed to the sun for the majority of the ride as well. I wouldn't do this if it wasn't connected to some of the best riding on the island! When you include it in the loop though, it's adds variety and challenge to a great ride.
If you plan to do the entire loop most folks park at the Dillingham Airfield air tower parking lot and then ride the few miles back on the road to the base of this climb. That way you finish your ride by descending Kealia Trail and ending up right back at your car. There is also parking on the street at the base of the climb.
