This is the most common rout to access Sheldon Mountain Trail and can be used to create an excellent loop ride. This route starts with a 1 mile pavement ride followed by a nice climb up National Forest Roads (mostly gated).

Access Info

Park at the corner of Pipe Creek Rd and Sheldon Flats Rd. Begin the ride by heading up Pipe Creek Rd for approximately 1.25 miles. Turn right onto Michael's Draw. Turn left at the first gated road (approx. .5 miles). Follow the main road for 2.5 miles (including a right turn at both road forks. The road becomes slightly overgrown and loose at some points, but is easy to follow. Take a right once the smaller road joins the primary road to the tower (.3 miles from the tower).

The singletrack is marked and begins southeast of the cell tower building. The upper portion of the trail follows classic singletrack through ponderosa pines. Several tight, slightly-banked switchbacks dot the trail. Eventually, the trail pops out on Michael's Draw. Turn right and follow the road approximately .3 miles to the signed trail marker. Turn left for the most fun portion of the ride.

Continue to follow the trail until it reaches Sheldon Flats Rd. Turn right for a short ride back to the starting point.
