Sunset is mainly used as a short connector trail given its distance and fact that is has both climbing and descending making it not ideal for shuttles. In the center is the low point so from either parking lot you are descending and climbing in this trails. It is very rocky with a few large drops and some sections with uncomfortable exposure. It will test every bike riding skill you have in your quiver but is an very fun challenge.
Access is either from Marshal Gulch Parking lot: Head all the way to the very top of Mt Lemmon and drive into and thru Summerhaven. Continue on that road all the way until it dead ends at Marshal Gulch. From here Sunset Trail is on the south end of the parking lot.
Other Access Point Sunset Parking Lot: This parking lot is roughly at mile marker 23 up Catalina Highway. It will be on your left hand side just as you pass the Butterfly parking lot on your right. From the parking lot head out west on the access rd for the cabins until it dead ends at the trailhead. There is a small sign marking the start.
