There’s something about Austria that’s hard to put into words. It’s that mix of old-world charm and wild, untamed beauty that gets under your skin. And if you're a mountain biker, Austria is like that first taste of single malt—smooth, rich, and just a little bit addictive.

But let's cut the romantic crap for a second. You’re here because you want to know about Flowgartner, right? Okay, imagine a trail that feels like it was hand-carved by some mystical trail legend with a deep understanding of what makes the best flow trail.. well, flow. When the berms hug you back, where every jump lines up like it was meant to, and each corner naughtily whispers "faster."

Flowgartner was built in 2018 by the Trailtech crew, and is a popular one amongst both locals and visitors in Villach, South of the Alps, with insane views of Lake Faak to top it off. This track is rated green, but it's not just for beginner riders - all skill levels can enjoy 2.2 km of flowly goodness, there's a lot of fun to be had at Lake.Bike and just looking at the trails here makes me want to go ride my bike. It’s playful, it’s cheeky, and it’s the kind of trail that makes you let out sounds like you're a kid on a playground again.

bigquotesThis trail is located on a former ski area, the landowner (Hubert Baumgartner, from where the trail takes its name) graciously allowed the use of his land to create this first trail in my hometown, which has since evolved into one of Austria's biggest trail centers... most of which is on his property. Be sure to stop by for a beer at the end of your ride and thank Hubert personally!

If you haven't yet experienced the trails here, it's worthwhile packing your gear and booking that flight - this place will stay with you long after the mud has dried up your backside.
