Trail of the Month: Flowjob - Tuscany, Italy
Flowjob
Tuscany Coast Park - Tuscany, Italy
Many don’t visit Tuscany for the biking... but they should. Everyone’s too busy swirling wine and pretending to know what “tannins” are to notice that this place is low-key packing some of the best kept trails, and not to mention the post-ride food options that’ll make you question why you're not living here.
Tuscany Coast Park, near the town of Castagneto Carducci, is one of the newer riding areas here, serving up trails with ocean views and dirt that grips just right. Tucked into this network is their newest flow trail - Flow Job. The first of its kind around these parts, it’s built to send, with fast, floaty jump lines and singletrack that makes the most of Tuscany’s rolling terrain. Still think Tuscany’s just for wine tours? Keep scrolling.
Eight years ago, Matteo Dondiero (Founder & Owner of Tuscany Bike) stood in a forest by the sea and saw potential. With his obsession for the sport and a vision in his mind, Matteo started carving out the first trails of what is now the Piombino MTB area. Fast forward to today, and the Tuscany Bike HQ has become a hub for riders. Matteo and his team offer rentals, guided tours, shuttle services, and even pump track lessons.
The trails in Piombino range from ancient singletracks snaking through lush Tuscan forests to coastal lines that end right on the beach - not your everyday riding scene. Each track has its own personality, born from a vision to create something special, something riders would remember.
Unlike Piombino, where 50% of the trails end on the beach (making shuttle runs impossible), Tuscany Coast Park (20 minutes from HQ) has a full-service shuttle setup on offer - unless you’re up for a suffer-fest on the climbs, that is. Either way, nothing good comes easy. You can pedal up the old-fashioned way or take advantage of the shuttle and stack laps. Your legs, your call.
The TB crew recently wrapped up the final stretch of Conte trail, now officially known as "Flow Job." Designed by the Tasso Trail Solution crew, this welcomed addition brings something entirely new to the park by offering a smooth, bike-park-style flow trail, all set against Tuscany’s ridiculous coastline and the locals are lapping it up.
If you thought this place was only about tech, think again. The future of Tuscany Coast Park just got a whole lot faster. Before Flow Job was created, the Tuscany Coast Park trail network was about the raw, natural singletrack, but this? This is a game changer for the region. Machine-built with berms that sling you into the next, rollers that (double)dare you to double, and jumps that’ll make your suspension work harder than a rental bike in peak season. It's the first proper flow trail in the region, because sometimes, you just don’t want to get absolutely rattled on sniper roots and rock gardens. Sometimes, you just want to open it up and let the trail do the work. Flow Job is that trail.
Finish your ride, grab a gelato, and take in views that belong on a postcard. The food is top-tier, the vibe is laid-back, and thanks to the perfect climate, riding here is a year-round thing. Still not convinced? Check out Scotty Laughland’s "Taste of Italy".
If you needed a reason to put this spot on your Trailforks bike-it list, now you have one. So stop swiping Trailforks like it’s Tinder and book the trip.
