The Beacons Ultra, Marathon and Half
Race Details:

The Beacons Ultra is a mere 50ish mile mixed trail/mountain/canal/road run around the magnificent Brecon Beacons in the middle of November, when climatic conditions can vary quite considerably. The race has taken place in everything from sparkling sunshine through to minus 8 degrees, with obligatory rain and mist thrown in to remind the athletes that they are running in Wales in all its glory. The Ultra consists of two loops of a 23 mile course, with the added benefit of an out and back trek up to Pen Y Fan on the first loop only.

The timing of the Beacons Ultra being at the end of the prime UK Ultra season means the event attracts a very mixed range of abilities….from Multi World Record Holders, to World Champions through to those taking part in an Ultra Run for the very first time and of course everyone in between, with the overriding atmosphere being relaxed and welcoming (although the competitive spirit in some can never die….ha!). Whatever your ability, you will also be made extremely welcome by what is possibly the friendliest organisers and marshals anywhere on the planet.

Beacons Ultra total elevation: 2,258 metres / 7,408 feet

The Beacons Trail Marathon is a 26ish mile mixed trail/mountain/canal/road run around the magnificent Brecon Beacons in the middle of November consisting of a single loop of the classic Beacons Ultra route with a quick trip up Pen y Fan, when climatic conditions can vary quite considerably.

We welcome athletes of all abilities and backgrounds to take part in the Beacons Trail Marathon. All we ask is that you are adventurous and determined. If you are concerned about a particular aspect of the event please contact us and we'll help you all we can with your preparations.

Marathon total elevation: 1,319m / 4,327 feet

The Beacons Trail Half Marathon is a 13ish mile run in and around the lovely village of Talybont On Usk at the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. It takes place in the middle of November and coincides with the Beacons Trail Marathon and the Beacons Ultra run.

It consists of a mixed trail/mountain/canal/road route to the east of Talybont on Usk, taking in the 551m Tor Y Foel hill and the Talybont reservoir.

Half Marathon total elevation: 543m / 1,781 feet

This is a beautiful, challenging yet perfect introduction to athletes venturing into long distance trail running and is a great way to dip your toes into the Beacons running weekend, where you will get the chance to meet athletes of all abilities and level of experience.
