After a couple years off due to the Pandemic, It' BACK!!! WATCH THIS VIDEO! We set up an indoor urban mountain bike course using over 100,000 square feet and two stories of the American Woolen Mill in Vassalboro, Maine. You'll get to ride thru offices, around warehousing, over many purposely built obstacles unique to the mill. This is a fundraiser to help repair the roof damaged in a Windstorm in 2017. Visit their Facebook site "Save The Mill". The course is ever evolving and may change right up until race day. From 10am until noon you'll get a chance to pre-ride the course and plan your strategy. We will clear the course at noon, and the race will start at 1pm. 2 hours to do as many laps as you can. The pit area is heated, but the mill is not, so plan accordingly. laps should be about 1 mile long and take 6-12 minutes to complete. Bathrooms and food are available on site. Registration is for teams of up to 4 riders. It's $80 per team. You are more than welcome to ride it solo but you'll have to buy the 4 spots on the team. We did this to clear some congestion. You weigh out the pros and cons to riding solo or a team of up to 4. The timing is done via transponder and each team is given 1 transponder so you'll need to switch transponders from rider to rider. Solo, there are a lot of laps and a lot of stairs......oh the strategy is real!
Again it's a fundraiser with all proceeds to go to the mill. We are all volunteering.
What's a bike race without camping? We're glad you asked. Check out the event merchandise for all the info. For $5 a person you can camp out with the ghosts at the mill. Its the Eastern States Cup Slumber Party!
We will be sending updated info periodically to all registered participants. We highly recomend narrower than 800mm handlebars, flat pedals, and maybe a tetanus shot! Oh, we've been told that the mill may also be haunted!!!! Helmets are required anytime you are riding. In 2023 we will be doing the relay race only as insurance is not allowing us to do a kids race. We encourage racers to be 14 years or older with experience on the bike they'll be racing. Riders must be capable of carrying their own bike safely up and down stairs.
