Mainly 4x4 forestry track. Shared with walkers and motobikes.

The Akatarawa forest park is large expanse of forest covering the hills between the Kapiti coast and the Hutt Valley. It is recommended that if you are venturing deep in to the forest on bike that you take the relevant topo map (or similar) with you.

      Access Info:
There are many entrances to Akatarawa Forest. The official entry is off Karapoti road. Turn off SH2 at Akatarawa Road and keep driving past the cemetery until you come to Karapoti Road on your left. Drive to the car park at the end of Karapoti road.

Another entrance is from Totara Park over Cannons point. This is an active logging operation though.

Other entrances are at the end of Bulls Run road, off Moonshine Road, Battle Hill near Pauatahanui and Mangakotukutuku on the Kapiti Cost side.
