SaveThis Preserve was donated to the Salem Land Trust in 2008 in memory of Alfred and Sylvia Bingham. Alf Bingham was a State Senator and Probate Judge from Salem and Sylvia Bingham taught at the Salem School. Both life-long naturalists, they donated land to the State of CT that is now the part of Nehantic State Forest.
This 4-acre Preserve is adjacent to their Ransom Brook Farm and the trail around the property is easily accessed from a marked right-of-way off of Darling Rd. The property includes several vernal pools, and a rocky ledge outcrop that overlooks a spectacular large beaver pond. Blue Heron are often seen there in season. It is a wonderful place for short walk.
