The Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve is the best preserved station along the Overland Telegraph Line and is one of the original sites of European settlement in the township of Stuart, later renamed Alice Springs, established in 1872.

The reserve grounds are a relaxing spot to have a picnic under the gum trees and are an easy drive or bike ride from town. If you're after a more physical challenge, try one of the mountain bike trails that start from the station.

The trails pass through stunning Central Australian landscapes. You can hire bikes and equipment from the kiosk at the Telegraph Station. Go to the Outback Cycling website for more information.
      Primary Trail Type: Cross-Country
      Access Info:
Turn onto Herbert Heritage Drive 4km north of Alice Springs off the Stuart Highway
