      El término municipal de Yecla tiene una extensión de 607,7 km². Se encuentra situado en el extremo norte de la Región de Murcia, siendo tierra limítrofe con las provincias de Albacete y Alicante. El paisaje dominante lo forman sierras de moderada altitud, con direcciones predominantes SW-NE, que constituyen la prolongación estructural de las zonas externas de las cordilleras béticas (Prebético), con estructuras plegadas de estilo jurásico y vergencia al norte. Las principales elevaciones de Yecla son la Sierra de Salinas (1.238 msnm en la Capilla del Fraile), Monte Arabí (1.068 msnm), Sierra de la Magdalena (1.038 msnm), Sierra de las Pansas (1.036 msnm), Cerro Picario (1.035 msnm) y El Puerto (1.030 msnm).[cita requerida]

      La mayoría de montañas, que se levantan sobre el nivel del suelo a modo de islas, se hallan más o menos forestadas y separadas por amplios valles corredores, donde se localizan los cultivos. La vegetación natural principal está constituida por pinares (Pinus halepensis), más o menos densos; el resto lo forman matorrales o espartales de fisionomía arbustiva y ampliamente extendidos.
