SaveAmelia Earhart Park is a 515-acre urban park in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, just north of Hialeah, Florida. It offers several recreational attractions like mountain bike trails, a dog park, a watersports complex, soccer fields and multiple pavilions for gatherings.
Located on the North end of the park, above Peregrine Falcon Lake sits a 100+ Acre Forest that is home to Amelia Earhart MTB Trails. This multi-use trail is home to Mountain Bikers, Hikers and Trail Runners. Amelia Trails is primarily a XC (Cross-Country) style trail system which is characterized by having mostly fast sections and not too much technical terrain that would slow riders down. All trails with technical features have bypasses for novices and are considered fully adaptive trails. The 7.75-mile circuit is sequentially built with bypasses and connecting access roads.
Amelia is a fast park with lots of flow. There is just the right mixture of jumps and technical features throughout the park. Nestled between Coffee Trail and Playground is a legacy Pump Track. Atop Chupacabra Hill there is a Skills and Jumps Area, with jump lines for beginners, intermediate and advanced.
The trail direction is reversed on July 1st and January 1st. This single-track system is meant to accommodate riders going in one direction only. We reverse the trail every 6 months to add some variety to the park. Before entering the trails, you will see signage pointing you to the correct entrance, either through Sand Bowl or Potato Vine.
The dry loop is set up by trail volunteers when there are prolonged periods of rainy weather, and the ground is not able to soak up the water fast enough. In cases like these, some trails will hold 1’ to 2’ feet of standing water. The dry loop is in place to give riders a year-round accessible trail path.
See “Routes” tab to explore common routes including “Greens Only” and “Dry Loop”.
Trail Crew meets regularly on Sundays though some work is undertaken during weekdays if crew is available to work/play at the park. Sign up with Miami-Dade County Parks Recreation and Open Spaces and apply to work with the MTB Volunteer group. (see link below)
See Facebook and Instagram pages/stories for Day-to-Day information regarding trail closures.
