SaveLa sierra de Aralar pertenece a las provincias de Navarra y Gipuzkoa. La parte Gipuzkoana con una superficie de 10971 Ha, está declarada cómo Parque Natural Aralar. Aralar es una gran meseta caliza emergida hace 50 millones de años y horadada por multitud de simas, cuevas y ríos subterráneos. Además, una cuarta parte de la superficie del Parque está cubierta por hayas. La mayor parte de ellas se encuentran en la zona situada entre el puerto de Lizarrusti y Balankaleku, formando el hayedo más extenso de Gipuzkoa, una joya de nuestro patrimonio natural.
