It’s a must-do set of tracks with a fantastic, 12km well-marked cross country loop that’s played home to countless races. It also hosts a fairly wild downhill track, over 3km in length with a good shuttle from the bottom back to the top.
      Primary Trail Type: Cross-Country
      Shuttleable: YES
      Land Status: State Forest

      Access Info:
Around an hour and a half’s drive from Sydney and half an hour from Newcastle.

From Sydney, take the Freemans Waterhole exit off the M1 and turn right at the top of the exit ramp back across the freeway onto Freemans Drive. Follow this back to the south till you cross over the freeway again and then turn right onto Mt Faulk Road.

From Newcastle and further north, take the Toronto/Palmers Road exit off the M1 and turn right onto Palmers Road. Follow this thru to the roundabout at Freemans Drive, turning left. Continue along Freemans Drive, crossing over the freeway twice before taking an right turn onto Mt Faulk Road.

To find the cross country trailhead:

Turn right off Mt Faulk Rd at Jenkins Rd (marked with a Mountain Bike Park sign). This is the XC trailhead and the finish for the DH track.

To find the top of the downhill track:

Follow Mt Faulk Rd up the hill past the signs to the trailhead. The DH trailhead isn’t marked with a sign yet, but there is a short road on your right where the club turns it’s shuttles around just past the Monkey Face Lookout road. The trail is just a few metres off the road on your right.
