Parts of the trail system are for hikers only, and have appropriate signage. Dogs must be leashed. There are often MANY hikers/runners with or without dogs. The trail is generally immaculately maintained & there is a strong vibe against leaving the trail or damaging it for any reason, so be courteous and thoughtful as you ride. Don't lock your brakes in turns, and be prepared to give right of way to hikers & runners.
Description
Part of the Badger Mountain Trail System. There are two parking areas, either on the the West side (most direct access to the Skyline Trail) just off of Dallas Rd, South of the 182, or the East side, by the twin water storage tanks at the intersection of Summit St & Smith Ave, accessing the Skyline trail via the Sagebrush Trail. This can be ridden either direction using the trail system. (*No access from the main trailhead at the aptly named "Trailhead Park", unless you plan to walk your bike & get some looks for the first portion, about a quarter mile, but there is a parking lot with bathrooms and water fountains.)
The trail is very well maintained with generally smooth changes in grade. Relatively flat switchbacks (no great berms in the corners). No extreme climbs aside from the initial push to get from the water tanks to the Sagebrush Trail, but climbing/descending is generally steady (think 'a two mile climb followed by a two mile descent'). Great view of multiple valleys throughout the ride
