SaveBare Creek Bike Park is a Council-operated freeride-style bike park on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
The project came about through years of hard work and collaboration between NSW State Government (thanks especially to the Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea), Northern Beaches Council, Trail Care, and passionate local riders who were prepared to put in loads of time and effort.
The park was constructed by Australia's leading MTB trail company, Dirt Art, under the keen eye of trail wizard Tom Mallet. This team brought an unparalleled level of creativity and attention to detail to the project, and that's immediately evident in the way the trails flow and the lips boost.
The park is now managed by Northern Beaches Council, with routine maintenance being handled by volunteers through Trail Care. Yes - that's right - the trails are cared for by volunteers.
The park includes a pump track, gravity trails ranging from intermediate to pro, and a dirt jump pad with all levels of lines. There's also walking trails, amenities, and loads of great spots to chill out and enjoy the serenity. The site is also home to loads of wallabies and other native wildlife (watch out for the danger noodles in long grass).
This is a facility for serious mountain bikers and BMXers. Whilst there are areas of the park that are suitable for kids and beginners, it's important that people have basic bike handling skills (and, for most of the trails, at intermediate-or-above level jumping ability). We recommend that riders feel comfortable riding around their local BMX track before stepping up to the bike park, and direct adult supervision is crucial for younger riders.
Check park status, either via Northern Beaches Council, or the Trail Crew Facebook Page. The latter might even give some tips over what's to be expected in the coming days.
