Nestled in the beautiful heartland of the historic Zulu Kingdom, and South Africa’s famed big game country, it offers a mountain biking experience unlike anything you have ever experienced.
You can expect to ride some of the most natural, lightly handcrafted, all-mountain trails while enjoying the peace and quiet of the serene bushveld – immersing yourself in nature and riding with buffalo, kudu and giraffe. After a long day of riding you can enjoy a splash in the pool while enjoying a drink, or watch the sun make way for the African night sky next to a hard-wood campfire. After a decadent three-course dinner you can finally fall asleep to the gentle sounds of night in the bushveld.
With an expansive network of natural, lightly hand-crafted single-track trails, supplemented by many kilometers of wilderness, double track and farm trails, it caters for mountain bikers of all ages and abilities.
The trail network makes excellent use of the big country landscape of the Zulu Kingdom and on any of the trails you are likely to encounter a wide variety of game. it is in a development phase and new singletrack trails are being built every day, including some awe-inspiring gravity-fed trails traversing some of the highest hills in the area and making outstanding use of the many natural rock features in the landscape. All new trails are built to IMBA trail building standards.
Belvedere is centered on the 1,400-hectare Belvedere Game Ranch which is home to Buffalo, Giraffe, Kudu, Nyala, Impala, Warthog, Bushbuck, Zebra, Bluewildebeest, Red- and Grey Duiker and many other small game species. It is a paradise for bird lovers and hosts a magnificent variety of tree species.
Accommodation is available at the Belvedere Lodge which is situated in the center of the trail network, surrounded by the lush African bushveld. The superbly appointed Belvedere Lodge has a self-catering central kitchen, lounge, dining area, bar and swimming pool. Full catering is also available. Accommodation is in six en-suite air-conditioned units or, for those who are more self-reliant, in a modern camp site with full ablution facilities.
