SaveWith the opening of the Lötschberg base tunnel, the pretty town of Visp (set in the Rhone Valley) became a new railway hub for visits to the central and upper Valais using the Matterhorn Gotthard Line, and vantage point for excursions to authentic mountain villages and regional vacation destinations such as the world-famous Zermatt and Saas-Fee.
Visp became an important and very popular mountainbike hub/destination for 3 main reasons:
1. - Perfect starting point for bike trips in the Upper Valais regions (Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Brig-Simplon, Aletsch-Arena, Goms
2. - Easy access to the surrounding mountain villages by many postal busses (the take 6 bikes per bus / 20 on some morning courses)
3. - Endless singletrails around Visp itself form flowy to techy, connecting high alpine villages and different landscapes.
