Biskey Ponds Ski Trails was created in the mid-2000s as an idea to bring additional classic-only ski trails to the local area. Starting at just a couple of kilometers, the trail system has since expanded over time to its current length and has attracted skiers from all over the region. The original sign for the first ski trail on the system is still present at the trailhead as an historic reminder of the beginnings of Biskey.
Following the completion of the newest 1.5 km easy loop, Biskey has roughly 12 km of classic-only ski trails. The trails travel through a vast number of scenic, northern landscapes.
On the trail system, both trail maintenance and grooming are done by Fredenberg Flyers Ski Club members on a voluntary basis. Trail agreements exist with St. Louis County and Minnesota Power that allow the ski club to manage a non-motorized trail system on designated routes. A Minnesota Ski Pass is not required.

While Biskey does not have any designated snowshoe trails, snowshoers are welcome to travel backcountry-style though the wilderness. However, snowshoeing is not allowed on any ski or surrounding snowmobile trails and snowshoers have to stay north of the Beaver River, south of Wolf Run and the northern Eagle Ridge trail, east of the northern Eagle Ridge trail, and west of Wolf Run.
