The Braamfontein Spruit is one of the busiest mountain bike routes in the country. Many of the riders jump on the spruit after a short route from their front gate. The Spruit is effectively a path that runs alongside the Jukskei River. It joins Albert's Farm, Emmarentia, Delta Park, the Sandton Field and Study Centre and then it continues into the heart of Bryanston.

The route runs from Melville koppies in the South all the way down to Paulshof in the North. The terrain is not too technical but can be a good fun 60km+ endurance ride.

The Spruit is shared with walkers, runners, dogs and younger inexperienced riders on family outings. Riders should be respectful and yield accordingly.

Sadly, there have been attacks and riders should be vigilant, and it is not advised to ride on your own (says the guy filming the route on his own). You should preferably ride in a group.
