SaveBuffelsdrift Trail Park currently have 10 mountain bike routes to choose from and 6 Enduro lines and 5 dedicated Trail running routes.
The mountain bike routes offer the mountain biking enthusiast different challenges and riding environments. Our trails are very well marked and with constant trail maintenance, we keep our trails ready for your riding pleasure. We have a dedicated Trail Building and Maintenance Team. Francois Theron, one of the Co-Owners has extensive MTB experience as a professional MTBer and his years of cycling all kinds of trails are being put into practice at Buffelsdrift. Through the involvement of local bike clubs in trail building sessions we keep on expanding our trails. Since the trails are also built by riders, we know that our trails offer exactly what you want.
You are welcome to combine routes to extend your riding pleasure. Mix of single track and jeep Track, fun climbs and fast downhills.
Bufuni - Green Route
The Bufuni Route is our endurance route, covering 85% of the combined Nguni and Buffel Routes. This Route is not for the faint hearted and should not be attempted unless you are capable of a 5hr + ride on challenging terrain. The Route includes all 4 major climbs: “Kwagga”; “Concrete hill”; “Spook bult” ; “Okkies ” as well as all the steep ascents on the Nguni Route. The technical sections includes Rocks2Crocks; Buffel View; Maiyak / A-line; Njala Drop and Supertube Prepare to suffer!
Buffel - Red Route
The Buffel Route is our flagship Route, Covering our entire trail system along the mountain range in the park, it starts out tough but gives some easier miles in the third quarter of the Route along the canal and river trails. The Route should not be judged by the distance as it is slow going and takes the average rider 3 to 4 hours to complete. The Route has 4 major climbs: “Kwagga climb”; “Concrete hill”; “Spook Bult” and “Ockies climb”. All of the downhills are fun but still for the more seasoned mountain biker. If you are in doubt, rather opt for one of our easier routes. Downhills featured: Rocks2Crocks; Buffel View; Maiyak / A-line; Njala Drop and Supertube! Enjoy!
Nguni - Brown Route
The Nguni Route is one of our “flatter” but by no means easy Routes, perfect for the endurance rider or beginner looking for a challenge without all the technical stuff. Refill your water bottle at the PVM Rondawel (Waterpoint) and enjoy the view of Roodeplaat Dam from the Nguni Viewpoint before cycling the last 15km through the Monkey Route back home. “There are no dangerous animals on this route………maybe a cow!”
Sort Nguni 31km - Pink Route
The Nguni route is one of our “flatter” but by no means easy trails, so we created the short nguni perfect for the casual rider or beginners looking for a challenge without all the technical stuff. Refill your water bottle at the PVM Tank (Waterpoint) and enjoy the view of Roodeplaat Dam from the Nguni Viewpoint before cycling the last 15km through the Monkey trail back home. “There are no dangerous animals on this route…maybe a cow!”
Zebra - Blue Route
The Zebra Route offers a fun 26km ride that includes two of the most fun downhill sections – Rocks2Crocks and the Supertube. You also get to ride down to the river section and before you know it, you’re back at the start. Have a snack and tackle the next Route.
Kudu - Yellow Route
The Kudu Route offers the rider about 24km of nice steady riding. You start with some easy flat riding but once over the canal, you face the steep Cement Climb. Once over you have some fun dirt road down hills and a fun single track before you follow the jeep track to the Pienaars River section. All technical challenges On this Route have easy B-lines.
Impala - Neon Green Route
The Impala Route is waiting for you to enjoy it. Come climb up the Kwagga and discover the more technical short Route that will give you a great workout. Your training can be taken to a new level on this Route. If you are a novice rider looking to move up your skill level, this Route is for you. This 18km Route is pure single track.
Rabbit - Orange Route
The Rabbit Route is perfect for the beginner that wants to put a bit more distance in. It is also great for kids that are building their mountain biking skills. This Route runs along the Pienaarsrivier which makes for a wonderful winding Route that is basic enough for anyone to ride.
Turtle - Purple Route
The Turtle Route is our beginners’ 7km Route that offers some flat riding along the canal and down to the Pienaars River section. The less confident cyclists can stay on the chicken run – you still need to concentrate here as chickens can also fall prey to the river python.
