SaveThe Spencer State Forest and Camp Marshall 4H camp have some overlap so they're listed together here. Camp Marshall offers youth programs and is especially equestrian focused. Their private lands abut large tracts of Spencer State Forest and town conservation land, and parts of the camp are leased from DCR. Discussions with camp management have always been supportive of public trail use.
There's a fairly new dam holding back Thompson Pond, the headwaters for Turkey Hill Brook. Recently there was a DCR project to remove lead contaminated soil along the brook below the dam, as this was the site of a former shooting range.
The camp and state forest parking is also the main base area for the Spencer Snowbirds snowmobile club. Their corridor 71 snowmobile trail loop passes through on its way south around Spencer and north into Treasure Valley and Oakham.
