SaveCarn Brea is the central point of the Great Flat Lode mineral tramways trail. It is a large hill formed from a granite batholith. Therefore, the Carn itself has plenty of mountain bike trails and challenges of its own to explore and discover. However, the circular lode trail around it is the real star. It is a fairly easy ride in itself which takes in some great historic mining areas and scenery. But as with all trails, if you look and explore you will find a number of gems created by the locals.
In addition to this, and the real value of the area, is that the Great Flat Lode links to a number of other local trails which in turn link to some great trailing and jumping areas. The lode links to the Tehidy trail (therefore Tehidy Woods), the Portreath trail, the Redruth to Chasewater trail, Lanner trail, the Coast to Coast trail, The Track, Poldice Valley and Unity Woods. There are literally miles and miles of riding which can be accessed with riding for all styles and abilities. You could spend days exploring from the one area.
There are a number of places to park in the area, many of which are designated car parks for the Lode itself. There are also cafes and the like to be found along the way.
