      Our Mission:
“Create outdoor experiences at the Catamount Community Forest that build active lifestyles, friendships, and environmental awareness. We envision a community in which: Playing in nature is everyone’s first choice.“

Catamount Outdoor Family Center began as a cross country ski center in 1978 as a way to utilize the unique 500 acre property.
Since that time, Catamount has grown too include year round activities such as mountain biking, trail running, fat biking and snowshoeing. Catamount also offers a variety of events throughout the year including, weekly races and an extensive summer camp program. The trail network has grown as well and now includes a variety of trails covering about 20 miles in total. Since 2005, Catamount has been operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit, and strives to offer opportunities for all ages and abilities. The business began as a means to keep the property preserved for people to use and enjoy into the future.

In 2019, the Trust for Public Land, Catamount Outdoor Family Center, the Town of Williston, and a small group of dedicated volunteers partnered to protect 393-acres of forests, fields, and wetlands that were managed by the Catamount Outdoor Family Center. With the goal of securing long-standing recreational opportunities for the public, and safeguarding both the water resources and sensitive wildlife habitats, the Catamount Community Forest was created and conveyed to the Town of Williston. The Town of Williston has partnered with the Catamount Outdoor Family Center to manage and operate the trail resources and recreational opportunities on the Catamount Community Forest.

Catamount will continue to operate as a non-profit and offer its popular programs, including summer camps for children, bike and running races, and other special events.

      -----------
Catamount Outdoor Family Center is our area’s centrally located, most extensive professionally maintained multi-use trail network with year-round self-propelled fun for active outdoor people of all ages and levels.

Catamount has been in the business since the early days of mountain biking in the late 1980’s and has continued to change and grow with the sport. With over 26 miles of trails, including single track and double track, wider gravel trails, both flat and hilly trails in the woods and open fields, and two great pump tracks, Catamount has much to offer mountain bikers of all ages and abilities.

We also offer a facility with quality rental bikes, energy food, tools, maps, and more. In addition to our trail network, Catamount offers numerous mountain bike events and programs such as our Wednesday Night Series, the Flower Power Race, a comprehensive kids summer camp program that has been running for 20 years now, Women’s Only Clinics, Co-ed Adult Clinics, and event races like the Eastern Grind.
