Get ready for a serious dose of "pain and pleasure." Cerro Alto features primo singletrack running through Los Padres N.F. This 1,600 foot climb is a serious beast, but it will reward you with an absolutely ripping singletrack descent. Upper trails are looser and rockier than the lower trails, which are mostly smooth and high speed going down. Watch for hikers and always use a bell when descending, the reason we have so many good trails around here is because we put forth an honest effort to have the friendliest possible interactions with hikers and other trail users that we can. A lot of older, wealthy people hike out here regularly, so just be a little extra aware of the issue. Due to the somewhat remote location, and the terrible climb associated with these trails, they don't get ridden very much, and because of that they are some of the least eroded trails in the county. Truly a hidden gem.

BEST AFTER RAIN!! These trails soak up the water, unless it is consistently raining heavily for 24+ hours, these trails will be pretty mud-free, the rocks get really slippery though. After a rain your best bet is to ride either here, Ontario Ridge, or Montana de Oro.
