The Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC) incorporates the Clarens Nature Reserve as well as all communal properties in and around the village. The CVC curates an extensive network of beautiful trails in the village and in the Nature Reserve. The trails are open for hiking, running and mountain biking and dogs on leaches are allowed.

As a non-profit organisation (068-115 NPO), the CVC, in partnership with the Dihlabeng Municipality, maintains the Clarens Nature Reserve with donations, member fees and income from Clarens events.

The CVC employs rangers who maintain the hiking trails, bridges, remove invasive plant species, and see that nature conservation rules are adhered to.

The Clarens Village Conservancy routes offer a little bit of everything, such as bird watching, picnics at well shaded spots, taking a rest on a bench with a view, swimming in summer, but above all: beautiful mountain views.

The time and distance indicators will help you to plan your routes. Several routes can also be connected together for those who want to take longer walks or rides. Route descriptions are from one direction, but all routes can also be done in the reverse direction.
      Primary Trail Type: Cross-Country
      eBikes Allowed: Yes
Land Status: Managed by Local Riding Association

While the trail network can be accessed from various points, the hub of the network is the Kloof Dam which can be accessed through the Hill Street CVC gate.
      Disclaimer:
A Trail permit is required for the use of the Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC) trails. Permits can be purchased on our website (link below). The official CVC map is obtainable from most businesses in the village and serves as your permit for access to all CVC hiking and mountain biking trails as well as fishing on CVC property.
