SaveCraters Mountain Bike Park in the Wairakei Forest is a bike park featuring a wide range of trails suitable for riders of all ages, experience levels and riding styles.
With trails varying in length, from a few hundred meters to over ten kilometers, there are plenty of options to choose from, allowing you to escape for just an hour or two or have a full day on the trails.
Craters MTB Park is a managed forest that has allowed for the creation of fantastic trails underneath the exotic pine plantations. The volcanic pumice soils allow for year round riding with free draining qualities that are not found anywhere else in New Zealand.
All users of Craters MTB Park must be a member of Bike Taupo. There are annual and visitor options, you can visit a local cycle shop, KEFI at the Hub Café, or join online at https://biketaupo.org.nz/index.php/members
Bike hire available at FourB next door to the café.

Craters MTB Park is located 10 minutes north of Taupo in the Wairakei Forest. When driving north from Taupo turn right off Wairakei Drive at the northern junction of Huka Falls Rd. The carpark is visible from Wairakei Drive in front of Kefi Café.
Access the park via the tunnel under Wairakei Drive via Inwards Goods.
The old car park is still operational about 600m up Karapiti Road which is left off Wairakei Drive.
There is a third access beside SHW5 about 500m back towards Taupo on the western side of the road which enters the forest near the start of Bumble Bee/BBC and SH Fun.
