Craters Mountain Bike Park in the Wairakei Forest is a bike park featuring a wide range of trails suitable for riders of all ages, experience levels and riding styles.
With trails varying in length, from a few hundred meters to over ten kilometers, there are plenty of options to choose from, allowing you to escape for just an hour or two or have a full day on the trails.

Craters MTB Park is a managed forest that has allowed for the creation of fantastic trails underneath the exotic pine plantations. The volcanic pumice soils allow for year round riding with free draining qualities that are not found anywhere else in New Zealand.

All users of Craters MTB Park must be a member of Bike Taupo. There are annual and visitor options, you can visit a local cycle shop, KEFI at the Hub Cafe, or join online at https://www.biketaupo.org.nz/2018-membership.html
      Primary Trail Type: Cross-Country
      AKA: Wairakei Forest

      Access Info:
Craters MTB Park is located 10 minutes north of Taupo in the Wairakei Forest. When driving north from Taupo turn left onto Karapiti Road. The main car park is 500m up on the left.

Alternatively the park can be accessed by parking on the grass opposite Kefi Cafe and the big helicopter and riding through the tunnel under the highway and up Inwards Goods which is to the left of Karopiti Rd. A new car park here will be under construction from March 2019.

There is a third access beside SHW5 about 500m back towards Taupo on the western side of the road which enters the forest near the start of Bumble Bee/BBC and SH Fun.
