SaveThe Cross Hills Area includes several separate smaller trail Networks. To the North is Winnick Woods which connects to Dyer Hutchinson Farm to the southwest and Cross Hill Trails, Leighton Farms and Spurwink further to the south.
The 71 acre Winnick Woods parcel is owned by the Town of Cape Elizabeth and was donated to the Town for preservation and includes extensive woodlands, wetlands, a pond and a meadow. Grades on the trails can be steep and bridges and boardwalks have been constructed.
The Dyer - Hutchinson parcel is owned by the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust. The trail begins in a wooded and wetland area and rises to the top of an open field before continuing into the woods. Grades are moderate. This trail intersects with the town-owned Winnick Woods to the north and connects to the Cross Hill Trails.
The Cross Hill Trails are owned by the Town of Cape Elizabeth. The trails are predominantly wooded with both moderate and steep slopes, with at least one bridge crossing a wetland area. The trail system
connects to the Winnick Woods and Leighton Farms trails in the north.
The Spurwink trail property is owned by the Town of Cape Elizabeth. This trail follows the edge of the Town Farm field, winds through a wooded area adjacent to Pollack Brook. Grades are gentle to moderate. Portions of the trail adjacent to Riverside Cemetery are seasonally wet. The southern end of the trail opens up to a view of the Spurwink Marsh.
The Runaway Farm trail winds through forested wetland, with moderate grade changes. This is a self-contained loop trail, a portion of which can be difficult to negotiate when wet.

The Winnick Woods trailhead is located on Sawyer Rd and includes a small gravel parking lot and kiosk. Trails also connect to the Cross Hill Trails and the Dyer Hutchinson Trails and will soon connect to the Eastman Meadows trail.
The Dyer - Hutchinson trailhead is located 3/10 mile south of Fickett Street on the east side of Sawyer Road across from mailbox #1147. Parking is permitted only in the two-car graveled area.
Multiple entrances to the Cross Hill network include Wells Rd, Cross Hill Rd, Apple Tree Lane, and the end of Hawthorne Rd.
The Leighton Farms access is from Wells Rd, Leighton Farms Rd and Steeplebush Rd. These trails connect to the Cross Hill trail system.
Entrance to the Spurwink Trail is next to the pump station and on Spurwink Ave north of the Pollack Brook crossing.
