The City annexed the 754-acre Park in January 2016. The City of Sugar Land provides police patrol and park maintenance services.

The Cullinan Park Conservancy Board, led by Ann Hamilton, is working with City staff to identify projects that are consistent with the park’s master plan. These will focus on trails and boardwalks that allow greater access to the existing lakes and wetlands areas, as well as locations for canoe and kayak launches into Oyster Creek. Site amenities such as additional picnic pavilions, benches and interpretive signage are also planned. Design plans are ongoing and the first phase of construction is expected to begin later in the year.

Cullinan Park is listed in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s state-wide birding trail as part of the Katy Prairie Loop. Birding is a very popular pastime in Texas, and it draws nature tourism enthusiasts from all over the world. With the development of Cullinan Park along with the Brazos River Park, Sugar Land is positioned to become a major destination for nature tourism in the future.
