Trail Flow (Ridden Direction)
Trailforks scans users ridelogs to determine the most popular direction each trail is ridden. A good flowing trail network will have most trails flowing in a single direction according to their intension.
The colour categories are based on what percentage of riders are riding a trail in its intended direction.

SaveExceptional, professional built single-track considered by rider consensus to be the best mountain biking trail system in Lower Michigan. The cutting-edge, sustainable trail is open to mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers and cross-country skiers and has been made possible by a partnership between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Potawatomi Mountain Biking Association and a $255,000 grant from the DTE Energy Foundation. The nonmotorized, single-track trail is currently 22 miles long, consisting of four nested loops over classic glacial moraine “kettle and kame” geography. Known as "flow trail," the surface of the trail is mechanically cut to create highly structured grades and out slopes, which are low-maintenance and sustainable.
The Green Lake loop is 5.25 mi. It is very flowy with many small hills and a few small jumps. There are a couple small features (with bypasses), including log steps over a log, and a rock jump.
The 4.75 mi Big Kame loop is more technical with two large rock gardens and many small to large jumps. It has several small hills and one very large one with big jumps.
The Winn Loop is 8 miles long. It has many large berms and big hills. There are many jumps some of which look like they came straight from a downhill park. Also, there are quite a few rock jumps and some skinnies of varying lengths. The Winn Loop has beautiful lakeside views of the Winnewana Impoundment.
The newest loop is the 4.0 mile Sugar Loop. The most technical of the four loops, over 25 tons of quarried rock was brought in to structure many features, including “Natural Selection”, a three-line structured rock feature, “Big Rock Candy Mountain”, a large armored berm switching up and down Sugarloaf Hill, “Pop Rocks”, a series of rock “diving board” jumps/drops, and “The Upside Down”, a winding bermed descent/climb with optional jumps.
All trail loops are directional based on day of the week. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays bikes travel clockwise on all loops, with foot traffic going counterclockwise. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, these directions are reversed for the respective users. In winter, parts of the trail system are groomed for “floatation use only” – fat tires, xc skis or snowshoes. Check the Facebook page for latest updates.
