SaveThe Duxbury Trail Network is one of the most undervalued trail networks in Eastern Massachusetts and hopefully this new map will help the riders from the immediate surrounding communities and further afield to enjoy these awesome trails. While the map was fairly accurately reproduced from Open Street Maps Data, it can only be improved with input from local riders. Please help in this effort by submitting comments, reports and, especially, trail descriptions. If you think the trail gradings or classifications can be improved, please speak up.
The Duxbury Trail Network has a wide variety of trails including a lot of fire road and single track, a lot of typical coastal forest tech, many punchy climbs and equally fun down hills, and very important, several fairly long, fast and flowy singletrack trails.
To see which trails are the most popular, on the map above, hit the “Trail Style” tab to open the drop down list, then hit “Popularity. The trails colored red are ridden the most while the trails colored green is at the other end.
The Duxbury Trail Network consist of three distinct riding areas:
1. The area North of Mayflower Street has a large and varied collection of trails that flow around the North Hill Marsh Pond and includes many awesome tech trails in the pine forests, swooping and flowy singletrack, many punchy climbs and exhilarating downhills. The fun and challenging loop trail all the way around the pond will give you a good mix of everything. Also check the Trailforks tab for the most popular trails and go give them a sample. All of the trails hang of an extensive network of fire roads, many of which ride like singletrack.
2. The area South of Mayflower Street is has an extensive network of fire roads, double track and flowing single track arranged around Round Pond, Pine Lake and Island Creek Pond. This area is as much fun as the North with but with a good mix that includes a greater selection of easier trails. Don't forget to give the pump track a go and also check out the nice and long swoops of flowy single track, especially towards the eastern edge of the area.
3. The third area is the Duxbury Bog trails which is on the other side of the Pilgrim Highway.
