SaveThe Flint Creek Range is bordered by the towns of Deer Lodge in the East, Philipsburg in the West, and Anaconda in the South. The Deer Lodge region on Trailforks encompasses the mountains and trails typically accessed from the Eastern side, which includes the highest point in the range, Mount Powell, at 10,168 ft. in elevation.
The Flint Creek Range is very rugged and not an ideal destination for mountain bikers. Here is an overview:
Singletrack: Most singletrack trails are backcountry hiking trails and haven't been designed with bikes in mind. They are generally steep, rocky and are rated double-black. The most rideable singletrack trail on the Deer Lodge side is Pozega Lake Trail out of Racetrack Creek Valley.
Primary Access Roads: These are worth considering riding as they are not too rough and still provide some good views.
Secondary Access Roads: These are 4x4 roads but they are generally steep, rough, and chewed up by motorized users. The most enjoyable one of these is the Montana Prison Ranch Non-Motorized.
Rated Double track: Similar to secondary access roads, these are generally steep, rough and chewed up by motorized use. They are narrower than secondary access roads and suitable for ATV's and smaller.
