SaveThe Grootvadersbosch Conservancy offers an unique network of mountain bike trails on private land in the Grootvadersbosch Valley, which is managed by the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy (a non profit trust) that runs social and environmental projects in the area. We value your support of our community and, in particular, the jobs that you help to maintain when you stay in our guest accommodation, eat our farm fresh food, and ride our beautiful trails.
The network, which is not connected to the Cape Nature reserve, traverses custom built single tracks, cattle tracks, jeep tracks and gravel roads across 21 private properties in the Valley. The network covers more than 120km of trails, tracks and roads.
The Grootvadersbosch Conservancy offers a wide variety of accommodation options. Enjoy rustic camping or cottages, five star guest houses with majestic views or stylish tented accommodation . All of the accommodation establishments in the Conservany are shown on the map with a star icon, and are hyperlinked to their own websites for reservations. All accommodation establishments offer direct access to the trail network. To browse all of the accommodation options, follow the link below.
We look forward to welcoming you in our beautiful valley and to share with you our unique corner of the universe.
WHAT YOU MUST KNOW:
THE ROUTES: We have six Routes that cater for all levels of skill and ability. Please click on the Routes tab and have a look at the available routes.
COWS & FENCE BRIDGES: You’ll be riding through some of the most productive dairy farms in South Africa. These cows give us milk, cheese, yogurt, butter and ultimately chocolate. We therefore ask that you treat them with the espect deserved. The fence bridges were also built to keep the cows safe so ride with caution.
REMEMBER: NOT ALL BRIDGES ARE RIDE-ABLE FOR ALL LEVELS OF RIDERS. If you’re unsure, please walk. You’re riding entirely at your own risk, so please be safe.
NEED A BIKE? You can hire a very basic mountain bike for your trip.
AND A GUIDE? A specialised mountain bike guide can lead you through the conservancy’s valley and mountains.
