Halfmoon Bay/Trout Lakes trails started it all on the Sunshine Coast. The XC trails exemplify the loam and rooty bits where you'll ride tight twisty old school singletrack to new flowy new school tech trails. The first built trail was 'Little Knives' where fire crews went in and opened up an old road, cutting the brush about 5in high and at an angle. You didn't want think about crashing on that trail as 'Little Knives' were waiting to cushion your fall. That trail completed a rudimentary loop and was the corner stone of a large loop ride. In the later 1990's, a great trail building group built Missing Link, Gord's Grunt, Pump it Up and Barrel of Frogs. In the 2000's, stunts on several trails were erected, the Sprockids program with the Shorts was in full gear, and with the Proctors, they lead a renaissance of well built trails for us to enjoy. Guy's LP named and gas named trails around the high side of HWY 102 and around the Watertower and Builder Al are continuing to the legacy of the finest XC trails on the Sunshine Coast. Thank you all for all your hard work!!!
