Trail Popularity ?
Trailforks scans ridelogs to determine which trails are ridden the most in the last 9 months. Trails are compared with nearby trails in the same city region with a possible 25 colour shades. Think of this as a heatmap, more rides = more kinetic energy = warmer colors.

Victoria's riding jewel is Hartland (affectionately referred to as "The Dump"). Extensive amounts of work have gone into proper trail building here and the riding is awesome. Variety is the key word. There is everything for every rider, including club activites and theme rides.

SIMBS have spent the better part of 20 years working on this network of trails that dates back probably 10-12 years before that. A mixture of easy (blue) to double and black diamond trails, the "Dump" has it all.

Regular trail maintenance is scheduled the third Sunday of every month. Email the Trail Directors at, trails@simbs.com, to receive monthly, no obligation reminders, and to order lunch, which is provided for the Trail Crew. Trail information can be posted on Trail Forks or emailed to the address above.

When you enter the Harltand park you will notice the "Technical Training Area", a place to learn and refine riding skills. The Land Manager, CRD Parks, rebuilt this area in the fall of 2016. The TTA now features a pump track, drop zone, log rides, and a flow trail with pumps, jumps, drops and 3m high wall rides.

If you are seriously injured on trails in the Bike Park, please inform the Trails Director at: trails@simbs.com.

SIMBS produces a physical trail map of the Hartland riding area that is available at Victoria area bike shops. Purchasing this map helps support SIMBS and the upkeep of local trails.

The Hartland Bike Park is an area of the larger Mt Work Regional Park set aside by the Land Manager, the Parks division of the Capital Regional District. At present, the Bike Park does not include trails in the adjacent CRD parks Mt Work, Partridge Hills. Nor does it include the Provincial parks, Gowlan Todd or Partridge Hills (although SIMBS is working on that). Trails in these areas are unsanctioned, unmanaged, and unmaintained.

      Access Info:
There are many access points for this area.
      A) The main access is at the parking lot at the end of Hartland road next to the entrance to the Hartland Landfill. There are washrooms and a bike wash. SIMBS Trail Maintainers meet there monthly.
      B) Mt Work Parking lot, North entrance. Access is along the Regional Trail North. Nearby Durrance Lake makes a refreshing finish to a summer ride.
      C) Woodridge Place at the end of the trail, Woodridge Access. Parking is very limited on the side of the road. Nearby Eagle Lake makes a refreshing finish to a summer ride.
      D) The parking are at the intersection of Prospect Lake/ Goward Road. Access is at the end of Meadowbrook Road, up the double track to Killarney Lake then to Executive. Either Killarney or Prospect are a nice finish to a summer ride.
      E) Willis Point Road at the yellow gate accross from Durrance Lake.
