This is a beautiful area, one that the locals enjoy as well as riders from "below the bridge". At this quaint rustic equestrian campground there are six designated sites that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional amentities include: vault toilets, manuer pits, and potable water from a hand pump. Campers also make use of the group fire pit for cooking or warming up at on cold days. It's a great place to meet and enjoy each others company.

There is also a large equestrian day-parking area at this location. Users may park and stage equipment in this area while they enjoy access to the Headquarters Lake Equestrian Trails. The trails are well marked and vary in length. A highlight for this area is the trail to Lake Superior which is an 18 mile round trip ride and a must-do. There are miles and miles of trails that are open to explore in the area via GPS or with an ORV map and include several small lakes in the area that you can ride to.

The trails, campground and staging area are maintained with the help of Upper Peninsula Trail Horse Association.
