SaveThe Sault Cycling Club’s home trails are at Hiawatha Highlands, home of 4 unique singletrack trail systems, Crystal Creek, Farmer Lake, Red Pine, and Pinder, offering something for novice to expert riders. The area is also home to a junior and intermediate pump track, and kids skills trails (Myles to Go).
Crystal Creek trail system
Crystal Creek is has seen major investment starting in 2022 and continuing into 2024 thanks to Tourism Sault Ste. Marie
The trail system is now full of many machine built flow and jump trails but still includes some classic singletrack. Get ready for tons of fun with flow, jumps, rollers and berms! You'll also find some newly built optional Black and Double Diamond trails (Soonami + Da Big Kahuna) and Jaws with huge tabletop jumps, working your way back to the trailhead by taking TLC, one of the most scenic climbs you'll take along the canyon home of Minnehaha Falls.
If you’re an intermediate to advanced cross-country rider, these trails are well worth the travel! Families can also enjoy this trail - check out our trail map to plan your ride!
Best accessed from the Connor Road trailhead, or the main parking area off Landslide Road.
Farmer Lake trail system
Newly constructed in 2019, and continuing into 2024, this area begins with a twisty, switchback climb leading you into the remote Canadian Shield wilderness full of machine built flow, XC, and enduro trails that will test of your technical skills. Looking for rock rolls, slabs, and gardens? This is where you want to ride!
With your heart pumping hard from climbing the almost 50 m hill, you’ll then be met by options to loop back down some enduro trails such as Twisted Sister, Crazy Train, Rocket Queen, Once Bitten, Twice Shy, Slippery When Wet or continue on to Farmer Lake, Pig Pen, and Swamp Donkey (home of another lookout spot, and the super happy fun bowl). Make sure you stop and take a break at the beautiful oasis that is lake the trail is named after. (3.5 km to get to the lake).
Best accessed from the Connor Road trailhead, or the main parking area off Landslide Road
Red Pine Trail System
The Red Pine is the home to the classic XC singletrack, and includes a mix of easier, intermediate and difficult sections. The Red Pine is signed to offer many different loops depending on how long you want to ride. The trails paralleling Fifth Line are on a relatively flat bench and are perfect for beginners. The trails to the south (e.g., Holiday, Rabbit Run) are below the bench offer some flow with variable descending/climbing. (14 km)
Best accessed from the main parking area off Landslide Road
Pinder Trail System
For a twisty and tight trail good for beginner-to-more-experienced riders, or a good warm up, or cool down, head out onto the Pinder. The terrain is generally level with no sustained climbs or descents but there is some fun flow! (Approx. 5km)
Best accessed from the main parking area off Landslide Road
