SaveHornby Island is a recreation destination known the world over for it’s excellent trail network, local cycling community and amazing beaches Home to one of the most beautiful and secluded selection of trails in BC. our local trail organization is the Hornby Island Mountain BIke Association.
With several trail access points around the Island, you are sure to have one near your accommodation. One of the joys of riding Hornby is that you don’t have to load up the car to get on the trails. You are never more than a 10 minute ride to the nearest trail!
If you are new to the Island, the first step is to get a map. Stop by the bike shop in the Ringside Market or the Co-Op Gas Bar to pick one up. With over 80km of single track, you will be glad you did.
Hornby's network is easily accessed and a reasonably fit rider should be able to do three or four descents in a day. If you have the choice of bringing an analogue bike or an e-bike, please bring the analogue bike. It’s not that we are opposed to e-bikes, but all of our trails are maintained by volunteers, and e-bikes usually equal more km in a day and therefor more trail wear. You can support the local volunteers with a TailKarma donation or via our website www.himba.ca.
