SaveThis riding area is within the Iron Creek and Hat Creek drainages Southwest of Salmon, Idaho. The riding area has rides that range from 4,400 feet in elevation at the Salmon River to about 9,200 feet near Iron and Hat Creek Lakes near the western portion of the riding area. The Salmon River borders the eastern portion of the riding area and the Ridge Road 020 to Iron Lake borders the western portion of the riding area. The vegetation ranges from grass and sagebrush in the lower elevations to Douglas-fir, lodgepole pine, spruce, sub-alpine fir, and whitebark pine in the upper elevations. The majority of land within the region is public land administered by the National Forest or Bureau of Land Management. Private land is present generally lower in elevation. This sparsely populated area has many primitive trails.

The Iron Creek Bridge crosses the Salmon River about 24 miles south of Salmon on Highway 93. The Iron Creek 045 Road provides access to much of the area from highway 93. The Hat Creek Road Bridge crosses the Salmon River about 40.4 miles south of Salmon on Highway 93. This provides access to Hat Creek from Highway 93 in that area. The Ridge Road 020 to Iron Lake provides access to the western portion of the riding area.
