Trail Flow (Ridden Direction)
Trailforks scans users ridelogs to determine the most popular direction each trail is ridden. A good flowing trail network will have most trails flowing in a single direction according to their intension.
The colour categories are based on what percentage of riders are riding a trail in its intended direction.

SaveLyngen Trail Center
You find Lyngen Trail Center at Magic Mountain Lodge in Lyngseidet. Except bar and accomodation here is also service for mountainbikers and some bikerentals. Clean the bike, visit our biketent, have a beer and a sauna.
MTB History
From 2011 the natural trail Gulruta (or golden trail) between MML and Rottenvik was found and became manys favourite. Soon also the trail Lyngseidet-Geitnes over the skihut and the scenic ride to and from the waterfall/ Rottenvik fossen was in use. In 2015 Andrew from Utah decided to go to Lyngseidet and build trails. Thanks to his rigorous work over 5 years we have been able to have some of the first and best hand-built trails in the Tromsø area. Dead Dolly, Banana/Jumpline, Edge of Heaven plus drops, berms and rollers along other trails. In 2018 we joined a Visit Lyngenfjord MTB project and started offering more service, guiding and bikerentals and called it Lyngen Trail Center. In spring 2021 we got the chance to develop LTC even more with support from Sparebank1 Nordnorge, promoting and hoping guests like you find us, like what we do, tell your friends and choose to stay a while
Which trail?
Our trails are normally good and ready from between mid-June through September. After heavy rain some trails should be avoided. Gulruta/Golden because of its popularity/erosion and Dead Dolly where you don't have the grip needed to ride it safe. You will do least harm and have best friction/most fun if you ride the fresh trails. Trailbuilding is also a nice activity in bad weather. Ask us for tools and tips.
Trails can be combined in many ways. Normally we head up Traktorveien by turning left at Lyngsalpeveien 52. This will take you to 320 and Banana Hill which is the start of Banana trail/Jumpline back to traktorveien. Berms, jumps and drop-offs in beautiful forest. Enjoy and play with gravity. Next up is to choose Golden or up to 320 and the Tverrelva waterfall. Here starts infamous Edge of heaven and our new easy trail Helmersen. Expect precise riding, exposure+drops and roots on the black Edge, so don't go too fast. It's not very steep so less experienced will find ways to go round. If you want to explore Chaga and Ruta 40** there is a nice passage of the river below the berm on Golden, which is close to where the trails meet. Going all the way down you'll end up on tiny Fjellveien*. Heading back just go right to Sattareveien down to Lyngsalpeveien and MML.
Fjellveien
Fjellveien is a construction road and is perfect to use on the way up to more fun (Don't use Golden uphill). Follow signs or trailforks to find either Majken** (turn left at 110 m on a tiny trail) or Felix (left at 180 m). Felix leads to trails north of Tverrelva (Chaga, R40) and Majken to the southern trails.
At 128 m Fjellveien meets Vardoveien Parking. Ride flat 100 m and turn left up Fjellveien to Felix or cross the small river for the Waterfall.
Fjellveien goes all the way up to Rottenvik Lake 510 m where you can find a nice small sheeptrail going south to Beretlia at 630 m. For the ultimate view the adventurous might even make it all the way up to Rundtind at 900 m by just continuing on this smooth ridge.
*Fjellveien have different names on the map Tverrelv-/Skjulbakken/Tyttebærhaugen/Stuoralouhkka.
**Nice rides but still being worked on. If not on trailforks look for temporary markings.
Dead Dolly
So you just passed Dead Dolly on your way to Banana? Don't worry. This is our closest trail so during any leftover time you can go here. Despite still being a project in its lower part Dead Dolly is a state of the art when it comes to hand-built trails in the area. Upper half has a dozen berms and three steep rollers. You find it in the sprucetrees at Traktorveien 200 m.
At Magic Mountain Lodge/Lyngen Trail Center
Here you find the bikers tent and places to park your bike and lock it to a chain.
Pressure Wash the bikes. Find and return tools and pumps in the tent toolbox. Don't use lubes, oil, grease on the asfalt. Washing is free but we always appreciate donations and support for more trailbuilding.
Nice affordable rooms overlooking the fjord.
Parking
There is a lot of parkings along Vardoveien. There are some smaller parkings at Lyngsalpeveien 52, Geitnes fotballfield and the 50 sign on Kjosveien after Lyngen Tank. Here is the bridge/startingpoint for steep but scenic Gjerdaksla.
