SaveLocated in the Siuslaw National Forest, Marys Peak is the highest point in the Oregon coast range and in Benton County. It has been designated a Botanical Special Interest area for its high-elevation wildflower-abundant meadows fringed by populations of noble fir. The peak is often snow-covered in fall and winter, and several gates along the main road can be closed at such times, making the upper parking lot or campground a bit lower down inaccessible.
A small network of trails crosses the peak meadows and descends the north and east flanks of the mountain. All trails are open to pedestrians year-round. North and East Ridge and the Tie trail are open to mountain bikes between mid-May and mid-October.
A current recreation pass or a $5 day use fee is required to park at Conner's Camp, the parking lot near the summit, or the trailhead near the campground. No permit/fee is required at Woods Creek.
